On Dec 20, Hapag-Lloyd and ONE announced the route service network of THE alliance in 2023. Its route services have been restructured to ensure the most comprehensive port coverage.

The adjusted new route service will come into effect in April 2023. THE alliance members are Hapag-Lloyd, ONE, Yang Ming and HMM.

One of the key highlights is the deployment of larger container ships on the Asia-North Europe trade route, according to a joint statement from the shipping lines. A fleet of modern, energy-efficient containerships above 23,500TEU will replace smaller vessels, aiming to provide a more sustainable service by minimizing the carbon emissions of its service network.

In addition, another major upgrade will be the deployment of additional 14,000/15,000TEU container ships on the Asia-Mediterranean and US East Coast trade routes.
